American lives do have second acts

Last year I posted this little story from my sketchbook about a parakeet that flew in my window and died. Today I got a facebook notification about this image on tumblr. Apparently Sara didn't let the fact that he'd died stop her from finding him a home.

I'm doing a reading

...this Saturday at Boneshaker Books in Minneapolis, 7pm. 2002 23rd ave in Seward.

I'll be reading from (and signing) Don't Go Where I Can't Follow,  a book I put together as a memorial to Cheryl Weaver in 2006, which has just been re-released after a five year hiatus. I'll also read from Rage of Poseidon, an accordion book of short pieces I self-published this summer which is due out as a proper release from Drawn and Quarterly next Fall.

Monologuist Paper Update #2 and 3: The Hole Mini and the Holiday Pricelist

For the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival last weekend I put together a zine collecting a short sketchbook strip I did a few months back about someone who's stuck in a hole, along with a few drawings and comics from my trip to Colombia. I'm also doing a small collection of some collage comics I did a year ago for Post-It 7 at Giant Robot. Both books are now available here.

How to Grow a 100 Page Comic Book in 15 Years or Less

I'll be giving a talk at Penn State this Friday at 2PM (Pennsylvania Center for the Book, Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library). I'll be discussing my work in general and Big Questions in particular, taking questions from the audience and accepting the Lynd Ward Prize. The next day I'll also be signing with D&Q at the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival for the re-release of Don't Go Where I Can't Follow. With a little luck I might have a new(ish) mini, too. Come say hi.

In French and German

Above: the new cover for L'association's French edition of Big Questions (apparently "Big Questions in French is "Big Questions") along with one earlier version, a little ex Libris plate for a bookstore in Paris and the new title page for the German edition (Atrium).
